Kalvin M. Madsen is a speculative fiction writer whose work delves into the ethical boundaries of technology and its impact on society and individual identity. His stories have appeared in notable publications such as The Pomona Valley Review (“The Charlatan,” 2020) and Felix Magazine (“Home is Where the Machines Are” and “Cat,” Summer 2023). As a contributor to The Catalyst, UCSB’s literary and visual arts magazine, Kalvin published three stories while playing an integral role in the creation of several issues between 2022 and 2024.

Kalvin M. Madsen, 27, was born and raised in Los Angeles, California, and currently resides in Pasadena. He works as a journalist for Local News Pasadena, covering community stories and local culture. Kalvin grew up in Malibu alongside his five brothers, raised by his father, actor Michael Madsen. A recent graduate of UC Santa Barbara, Kalvin earned his degree in 2024, balancing his academic pursuits with a growing passion for storytelling.

Kalvin is the founder and editor-in-chief of Low Hanging Fruit Literature and Arts Magazine, which has featured his latest work, “Hologram Siblings,” in its debut issue (July 2024). He is also the author of two self-published books: Hello, Receiver: Five Stories by Kalvin M. Madsen (2021) and Emzara & The New Model (2022).

Passionate about speculative fiction that challenges readers to consider the intersection of technology, society, and personal identity, Kalvin continues to explore these themes in his writing and editorial work.
